Affiliate marketing is an internet based advertising program developed by a few key companies early on in the world wide webs' beginning. The process rewards each of its affiliates for bringing traffic to the company's website through the affiliate's website. This traffic amounts to a larger potential for paying customers for the company and therefore the company reimburses the affiliate who places text, in text, and banner advertisements on their website.

How This Works

There are several different types of marketing techniques, strategies, and reimbursement plans on the market. Each company which offers affiliate networking usually offers a few different plans. The types of reimbursement usually follow one of three types:

PPC – Pay Per Click. This style repays the affiliate per click. Every time a potential customer clicks on a website link which is an advertisement with the company they are reimbursed a certain amount. This amount varies from company to company, product to product, and is different depending on the advertisement style.

The going rates can range from less than a penny per click up to a dollar or two per click. The more traffic your website has the more potential clicks and therefore money you can earn. You will earn the most money by using banners that relate to your website content.

CPM – Cost Per Thousand. This type of advertisement pays per page load. This means that you, the affiliate, gets paid for the advertisement every time somebody views one of your website's pages. This is an excellent type of affiliate marketing for those who have a large amount of daily traffic.

The repayment is usually per thousand views and relies heavily on your site traffic load daily. But it has a high conversion rate and can potentially earn large amounts.

PPS – Pay Per Sale Or Lead. This is also known as commission based marketing. In other words, you the affiliate, earns a percentage of the products purchase price if and when a sale is made by someone who clicks on the advertisement via your website.

Some companies track these clicks for a day or so after the potential customer has clicked on the advertisement. This means that someone who has viewed the company's website yesterday and buys that product or another product today could earn you a commission. It pays the best and you get better results if your advertised products suit your target audience.
